Seyla Benhabib is a political theorist and Eugene Meyer Professor of Political Science and Philosophy at Yale University, CT in the United States. Her scientific work relates to several important topics within contemporary politics such as liberal democracy, the rights of migrants and asylum seekers and how to solve dilemmas between pluralism and cultural diversity on the one hand and universalism on the other.
Her books include Situating the Self: Gender, Community and Postmodernism in Contemporary Ethics (1992), The Rights of Others: Aliens, Residents, and Citizens (2000), The Claims of Culture: Equality and Diversity in the Global Era (2002) and Exile, Statelessness, and Migration: Playing Chess with History from Hannah Arendt to Isaiah Berlin (2018).
