Nominate
Nominations for the 2025 Skytte Prize are open until January 31, 2025. Submit your nomination using this form.
The Skytte Prize Committee relies solely on nominations from the broader political science community, as committee members cannot nominate themselves. Your dedication in crafting a thorough nomination is greatly valued.
Nomination Instructions
1. Nominations for the 2025 Skytte Prize are welcome from individual scholars or groups of scholars affiliated with any higher learning institution, such as universities, research institutions, or academies of sciences. Additionally, we encourage submissions from doctoral students and practitioners in the field of political science.
2. Nominations must be composed in English and should be at least 500 words in length. While there is no maximum word limit, we ask that the nomination letters remain reasonably concise. In your letter, please present a well-structured argument detailing why the nominee merits the Johan Skytte Prize.
3. Nominations should also include a CV and publication list of the nominee.
4. Nominators can be either a single individual or a group. If nominating as a group, we advise writing a joint nomination letter with all members' signatures, rather than submitting multiple nominations for the same nominee. Please note that joint nominations are considered with the same regard as single-authored nomination letters.
5. Self-nominations and posthumous nominations are not accepted.
6. Nominations are confidential and should not be shared with the nominee prior to or after submission.
7. You may nominate groups of scholars, but please be aware that joint Skytte Prizes are rare, having been awarded only twice in the past.
8. We encourage nominations of female scholars and scholars from the Global South to broaden the diversity of Skytte Prize laureates.
9. Nominations from previous years are retained and reviewed annually. Please re-submit your nomination only if substantial updates have been made to your nomination letter.
10. Nominations are best submitted electronically using the online form provided below. The form is compatible with all browsers, but please note that it does not save work in progress. Therefore, we recommend preparing your nomination letter in a word-processing program and copying it into our online form once complete. Upon successful submission, you will receive a confirmation message.
Selection Procedure
The laureate is chosen by the board of the Johan Skytte Foundation at the recommendation of the Skytte Prize Committee. The laureate is usually announced in April/May on the pages of the Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet.
